deodorant, powders, or perfume prior to study. Limit caffeine
intake 72 hrs. prior to study.

DEXA Scan (Bone Mineral
Study) - No calcium supplements 24 hrs. prior to appointment.
No Fosamax day of exam. No barium, nuclear medicine studies,
or IV contrast studies 1 week priorto appointment. Wear jogging
suit or elastic waist slacks. No zippers or metal over spine
or hips.

Tomography
CT - Nothing to
eat or drink 6 hours before the exam. Please arrive 1 hour prior
to appointment for a abdomen and 2 hours for a abdomen and pelvis.
You may also stop by our office anytime before your appointment
and pick up the barium to drink it at home.
Magnetic
Resonance Imaging (MRI)
MRI - Hazleton Radiology
Associates calls all our MRI patients the day before their scheduled
appointments to verify insurance and appointment time. Please
notify our staff of any metal you may have in your body or if
you are claustrophobic or think you might be. Try to dress in
clothing without metal snaps, zippers, etc.
MRI of the Abdomen
- Is the only study which requires you to fast for 6 hours prior
to your scheduled appointment. No other preparations are necessary.
