MRI
Hazleton
Radiology Associates has the first NON-Claustrophobic High Field
MRI Unit in the area. Finally patients with claustrophobia no
longer have to settle for the suboptimal image quality on an
open unit. Our unit also accepts patient up to 500lbs unlike
other units that have much lower weight limits For almost every
study you will enter the magnet feet first this will allow for
you to enjoy the newly installed "SKY MURIAL" leaving
you with the feeling of lying in an open field gazing into a
beautiful blue sky.
The Siemens Magnetom Espree delivers 1.5 quality
images. Currently, patients too large to fit inside the bore
of a high-field MRI magnet have their imaging studies done in
an open MRI systems with low-field magnets. This limits the
diagnostic usefulness of the images obtained. The field strength
of a magnet is measured in units of Tesla - the higher the number,
the higher the field strength. The higher the field strength,
the better the quality of images produced, so patients can rest
easy inside and the referring physician can also rest easy knowing
he/she is getting a confident diagnosis.
The
Siemens Magnetom Espree also has a feature called TIM(total
imaging matrix) this allows coverage of a greater area in less
time, without sacrificing image quality.
The Espree MRI can image blood vessels from the
abdomen to the ankle in one imaging procedure. MRA Magnetic
Resonance Angiography as it is called is very effective in the
evaluation of blood vessel disease. MRA detects, and aids in
the treatment of stroke, renal artery disease and peripheral
vascular disease. The results of an MRA exam are very sharp and
detailed therefore able to detect tiny changes that may result
in blockages of veins or arteries. MRA tests are non-invasive
and can be completed in 30 minutes.
MRI uses a magnet field to image so there is no
exposure to x-rays during an MRI study.
Some studies may require the use of a contrast
agent to help distinguish and better visualize certain changes.
After the images have been taken, our radiologists
will review the study and send a report to your physician, normally
within 24 hours.
